How a charter works
Five steps from your yard to the island dock.
No freight forwarder in the middle. You talk to the people who run the boat.
- STEP 1
Send the job
Cargo list, dimensions, weights, destination and your window. Photos or a packing list help.
- STEP 2
Quote & availability
We confirm the vessel can take it, how it rides on deck, and give you a charter price and sailing date.
- STEP 3
Paperwork
Manifest, customs documentation and any permits for the destination are lined up before we load. We comply with regulatory requirements.
- STEP 4
Load at Port of Palm Beach
Roll-on cargo drives up the ramp; the rest is craned or forklifted aboard and secured for the crossing.
- STEP 5
Deliver dockside
The ramp goes down at the island and your cargo rolls off. You or your contractor meet it at the dock.
Questions
Before you send the job.
What is the difference between a full and a half charter?
A full charter gives you the whole deck for one sailing. A half charter shares the deck with one other customer's cargo heading the same way, which lowers the cost when you don't need all 2,000 square feet. Tell us the load and we'll recommend which makes sense.
How much does a charter cost?
Every charter is quoted individually. Price depends on destination, cargo weight and footprint, whether the sailing is full or half, and timing. There is no published rate card; send the job details and you'll get a written quote.
Can you get into my dock?
Very likely. The Island Hot Shot operates in under six feet of water and lands its bow ramp on docks and beaches that deep-draft vessels can't approach. Send us the location and any photos of the dock and we'll confirm.
Who handles customs and paperwork?
We prepare the vessel manifest and comply with US and destination regulatory requirements for the sailing. You or your customs broker are responsible for import duties and any permits specific to your cargo. We'll tell you exactly what's needed before loading.
Do you carry passengers?
No. The Island Hot Shot is a cargo vessel. A representative may need to accompany certain cargo; ask when you request the quote.
Where do sailings leave from?
From the Port of Palm Beach in West Palm Beach, Florida. We'll confirm the loading date and berth with the quote.
